Writer of Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction & Showgirls Is Back With New Erotic Thriller LUST

Hungarian born Joe Eszterhas, who became one of the highest paid and sought after scribes in early 90′s Hollywood having wrote the Michael Douglas-led sexual thrillers Basic Instinct and Fatal Attraction before the infamous Showgirls left him disillusioned with the business, is to make his long-awaited return with a new erotically charged film in the vein of his previous work.

The Hollywood Reporter say he has turned in a new script titled Lust that Stone Village Productions will produce, about;

“a 30-year old beauty who is married and in love with an older Miami-based fashion magazine publisher, only to be seduced by a younger charming playboy on a business trip in Los Angeles. The playboy has an Russian assistant who is in love with him, and in this twisted jealous love triangle, secretly videotapes him and his new lover having sex to show it to her husband.”

The movie then turns “into a high suspense thriller promising plenty of steamy sex scenes, set against the backdrop of the high-stakes world of real estate brokering in Miami”.

A director/cast will quickly be hired in order to sell the package in Cannes next month with the idea to film late summer. Producer Scott Steindorff (The Lincoln Lawyer) will finance independently for $30 million.

Once a huge staple of the late 80′s/early 90′s cinema, the erotic/sexual thriller hasn’t seen much love in the past decade, though with the under-seen Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfriend movie Chloe, we sure had one that worked last year. Shame few could be bothered to see it.

With the right cast (shame Michael Douglas is too old for this now) this could be one to keep an eye on. Could we get Amber Heard in for one of the roles, please?
